Some people have slightly lowered tire pressure to soften the tire for a hardtail; but, I don't know if that's safe.
Hal & Bryan (ex-forum members -- both bikes on Odar's site) both ran rigid & said they didn't have problems; but, I'd be worried about stability when cornering, since the entire bike would be affected by potholes, not just the rear wheel.
